Review: Kapten Frost Mint
I’ve been a big fan of Kapten for many years now. In fact, Kapten Mint is one of the mint products I keep around in my regular rotation. When I first heard about this one I was curious if it was replacing Kapten Mint, or if it would be a new mint with a different flavor. Are you curious as well? Well, today we’re going to get into this one and talk about Kapten Frostmint! This one originally launched just a few months ago, in October of 2023. Kapten is a snus made by AG Snus in Denmark, which was acquired by PMI in 2021. It’s interesting, PMI now owns AG Snus and Swedish Match, so General and Kapten are a part of the same family. Just as distant cousins.

The product description for this one says, “Kapten Frostmint X-Stark Vit – A white portion snus from Kapten perfect for you who want something refreshing and powerful! It has a well-rounded tobacco character, and it delivers extra strong nicotine kicks together with a frosty mint flavor. The somewhat dry surfaces of these well-filled and white snus portions reduce their drip. This low amount of drip ensures that they provide a satisfyingly long-lasting release of both flavor and nicotine”. Each can weighs in right at18 grams and contains 20 portions, for 0.9 grams each. The nicotine content is 16.67mg/g, which breaks down to 15mg/pouch.
Opening the can, the aroma that comes through is a present smell of peppermint, along with hints of menthol. I didn’t notice menthol in the regular Kapten Mint, so that seems to be a part of the difference from this one to that one. The portions are great. I’ve always loved how plump and well filled Kapten portions feel. They fill out the lip really well, are soft against the gum, and have a nice flavor release. Much like other mint products, you get a nice cooling sensation when you put one in the lip. The flavor profile on this one is pretty refreshing. I notice menthol up front, with a nice peppermint flavor to balance it out. Like I mentioned earlier, Kapten Mint doesn’t have menthol to it so that addition makes this one stand out! The nicotine kick on this one is a little above regular strength, but it’s not too overbearing. It has a nice extra delivery of nicotine at the strong level, but it’s not so much that it knocks you out or anything. The flavor also lasts quite a while! I’ve found with Kapten White Portions I can usually enjoy these for well over an hour, so quite impressive stuff!
The Bottom Line
Kapten is a great brand with a lot of great products in it. I enjoy their mint flavor, but I’m also a big fan of their Kapten Salmiak, Kapten Melon, and Kapten Original. But, their mint is a favorite of mine, and one I always keep around. If you’ve never had that one, it’s worth a shot. As far as their mint products go, I like Kapten Mint more than Kapten Frostmint. But both are good. If you like a more mentholated mint flavor, you may enjoy this one more. If you don’t want as much menthol, you may enjoy regular Kapten Mint more. Either way, you can’t go wrong with this one!
