Snus and Gaming: Enhancing the Gaming Experience

Snus and Gaming: Enhancing the Gaming Experience

Today, we’re going to be talking about a couple of my favorite things in the world: snus and video games! Two great things on their own, no doubt, but also two great things that are even better together. No matter what consoles, games, or snus products you prefer, these all go quite well together and compliment each other very well together. If you’re like me, and like pairing snus with various foods, drinks, situations, and activities, you’ll enjoy this topic today as we dive into the world of video games and snus!

Before we get into the snus, we have to get into the games. We are currently in what is regarded as the “Ninth Generation” of video games, beginning in 2020. The current consoles of this generation are the Microsoft Xbox Series X and Series S, launched on November 10th, 2020, and the Playstation 5, launched on November 12th, 2020. While these are the current consoles of this generation, the Nintendo Switch is still popular as ever, carrying over from the Eighth Generation and it’s launch on March 3rd, 2017.

It is undeniable that there are “console wars” that exist, with many people loyal to certain consoles. I, however, take an opposite approach. While I’ve always been a Nintendo and Playstation guy, I also own an Xbox. I’ve had every Nintendo console since the NES, and I’ve had every Playstation since the PS1. My wife, however, is strictly Xbox. A few years back, in the height of the COVID pandemic, I purchased my first Xbox so her and I could play co-op games together. While she plays on an Xbox Series X, I play on an Xbox Series S. Back then, it was cheaper and easier to find, and I’m more partial to digital gaming and not physical media. I also liked the Gamepass option, so it’s something I’ve been enjoying over the years.

While some may be loyal to one platform over another, I’m not that type. I’ve been enjoying having all three of the currently available platforms. There are a lot of exclusives across the board, so when you have all the available consoles you can play anything you want. I’ve always been partial to RPGs and shooters, myself. I’m a big fan of the Final Fantasy series, and I also play a lot of Call of Duty. Lately I’ve been getting into more open world games, mainly because the Mrs. and I play co-op a lot. Our current kick has been Fallout 76, but before that we played a lot of Grand Theft Auto Online and Red Dead Redemption 2. But gaming has always been a big part of my life, and I’ve been loving watching the video game scene grow over the year as technology advances. Nothing beat the old NES and SNES games, don’t get me wrong, but these new ones have their merits, too!

Now, honestly, you could use any snus when you’re gaming. A lot of this is going to come down to your personal preference and what you enjoy using. There is nothing better than sitting down, relaxing, and having a portion or prilla of lös in your lip. For me, I like to mix it up and I’ll pair different flavors with different scenarios. Or, depending on how long I’ll be sitting and playing a game. If I’m doing a short gaming session, I may go for an original portion that won’t last as long. If we’re going to be sitting down and spending a weekend marathon of Fallout 76, I may use more white portions for longer lasting flavor, or lös for maximum relaxation. So, I’m going to run down some of my favorite games, and talk about some of my favorite pairings with each one.

Shooters

For the past few years, I’ve been playing a lot of shooters. It’s been probably a bulk of what I play. I mostly play the Call of Duty series. Usually when I play I do multiplayer, but mainly because I breeze through the campaign as soon as it launches. In the multiplayer modes, I’ve been more partial to the DMZ mode myself, but will sometimes venture into the more fast paced modes like Ground War and Invasion. But, in general, most of my game time for the past few years has been spent on Call of Duty. With DMZ being no longer supported, I’ve been venturing onto other stuff, but I still spend a lot of time in the COD universe. I know in Sweden, CS:GO is quite popular, however I’ve never ventured much into that one, mainly because I run a Mac and not a PC.

Generally for these shorter gaming sessions, I’ll use more original portions, or snus products with a shorter lifespan. Not exclusively, as I still like to enjoy a Red Bull and a G.3 Wire for early morning gaming, but in general I’ll use a lot of original portions. Some of my favorites are the more earthy tastes, like Grov Stark Original Portion, Artisan Signature Blend Original Portion, and some loose products like Grov Lös, Prima Fint Lös, and Islay Whisky Lös. I find those earthy types of flavors work very well with the imagery of a ground based game with lots of sand.

RPGs

My earliest love in gaming has always been RPGS. From days of Earthbound and Final Fantasy VII on the SNES, to long marathon gaming weekends of Final Fantasy 7 on the PS1. Nowadays, RPGs are much more open world, and have longer gaming sessions to them, so you can really lose a lot of time in RPGs. I don’t think RPGs now are as fun and exciting as they used to be, and I find myself playing a lot more of the older ones nowadays. Xbox Gamepass has some classic ones, as does the Nintendo Switch with remasters like Super Mario RPG.

When I’m playing RPGs, I like to mix it up and use more complex and flavorful snus products. I think maybe it’s because there’s potions and elixirs and whatnot in RPGs, and my mind just connects that. You could use a complex one like G.3 Load that has an interesting and complex licorice flavor. Göteborgs Rapé is a great one, with it’s blend of herbs and flowers, along with juniper and citrus. Lundgren’s Norrland is a great option for those days you spend running through forests. Virtually, that is. Or you could even go with Lundgren’s Västkusten, which tastes like the salty sea air. So, those are a number of ways you could go with it.

Open World Adventure Games

This has really become my favorite category lately. A while back, the Mrs and I got into Red Dead Redemption 2 and spent weeks upon weeks playing it. I really liked how complex and immersive these huge, open world games were. After that came a lot of Grand Theft Auto online. But lately, a lot of Fallout 76. I think this one has been my favorite though. We have lost entire days just exploring the map and building up our base. But, on top of that, there are a lot of missions that you can do. But these games are ones that you can lose so much time in. I really like the co-op feature. The Mrs and I have two TVs in our room and two separate consoles here, so we play co-op, but we’re right next to each other and can plan missions and coordinate and whatnot. It’s honestly a lot of fun.

For these long marathon gaming sessions, or weekends spent binging, I like to dive into comfort snus products that I can just sit and use portion after portion. White portions and white dry portions are great for this, because the flavors last forever. I’ll usually throw in a Grov White Portion, or G3 TNT Slim White Dry, because the flavor will just sit and go forever. Or, another great option is loose. Nothing beats kicking back, baking a prilla, and enjoying some good loose snus while you’re binging away. Grov, Prima Fint, General, there are a lot of great options. But generally, I like simple snus flavors while I’m spending a weekend gaming away. You could go anyway you want with that, but that’s generally my preference!

The Bottom Line

There are a lot of other types of games out there, such as racing games, platformers, and sports games. I didn’t even get into sports, but I do like to play wrestling games, hockey games, and baseball games. There’s a lot of different genres out there, but the thing I like the most is that with snus I don’t have to take smoke breaks. Back in the day I’d have to step outside every hour or so and I’d lose game time. Or, a friend would steal my turn. Or, my character would randomly die. With snus, that’s something I don’t have to worry about anymore. It has definitely made me a better, and more efficient gamer. No matter what types of games you play, or what types of snus you’re into, snus definitely helps accentuate the gaming experience. Grab a controller, open a can, and enjoy!
