When you’re browsing here on SnusExpress.com, you’ll notice a lot of snus products available for sale. It’s even in the name, SnusExpress. But, Swedish Snus isn’t the only thing available here! If you’re wondering about some of the other products sold here that aren’t snus, I’m going to do a deep dive today into that topic. Whether you want something with nicotine, caffeine, or something with nothing added at all, there are a lot of different options available here for you. I personally am partial to snus, but I have been known to use a nicotine pouch here and there in the past. I’ve also used caffeine pouches when I had an early morning job several years ago.
First, the topic of nicotine pouches. I know some are saying, wait, aren’t those snus? For the purposes of this article, I’m including them as a snus alternative. Classic snus has always included pasteurized tobacco, and as nicotine pouches do not include tobacco, I’m going to discuss it today as an alternative. In Sweden, a lot of people refer to nicotine pouches as “white snus”, which can be confusing, as snus has “white portions”, but also products made of “white tobacco”. For me, I’ve always considered nicotine pouches to be there own thing, their own category. For this article, I’m going to consider them as an alternative to snus, as many people may want to quit consuming tobacco but still enjoy nicotine consumption. Plus, you ask a Swede in their 70’s that only consumes lös snus if nicotine pouches are snus, they might give you a funny look.
So, let’s check out these different brands, and get to know a lot of the alternatives to snus that are available here!
For the “Tobacco Free and Nicotine Free” category, these are products that, of course, do not contain any tobacco or any nicotine. These also do not have anything added such as caffeine or any herbal components. We’ll get into products like that shortly. There are three major brands sold here: Onico, Velo Zero, and Zero Nito. If you’ve never had or heard of these before, I’ll explain them further.

Snubie’s Opinion: Onico is the classic, traditional snus alternative. Honestly, when you’re using it, you almost feel like you’re using a white portion snus. Until you notice there is no nicotine delivery. To me, a snuser looking for a snus alternative need look no further than Onico.
Brand: Velo Zero
SnusExpress.com Description: "A nicotine free snus from Velo with tobacco free and all-white slim portions! The all-white filling used by these comfortable portions consists of natural plant fibers. A high-quality filling that both eliminates any potential risk of them leaving stains and that minimizes their drip, lengthening their minty release of flavor”.
Snubie’s Opinion: Velo Zero is, to me, not really a snus alternative, but more of a nicotine pouch alternative. Using these products, the experience is a lot like using a nicotine pouch: how they look, how they feel, all of that. But, you don’t get any nicotine with these because they are completely nicotine free.

This Zeronito Snus is also free from additives like caffeine and Ginseng, making it to a more health-conscious alternative to Swedish snus and nicotine pouches”.
Snubie’s Opinion: ZeroNito is another one that is, to me, a nicotine pouch alternative. The experience with these is a lot like using a nciotine pouch. They feel the same in the lip, they look about the same, but they have no nicotine to them. But, if you like using nicotine pouches, you’ll enjoy these as an alternative to those products.
Caffeine pouches are an interesting category. Yes, it is true that you could use these instead of snus. The caffeine effect can be similar to nicotine for some people. But, you could also use these and snus. I use snus all the time, but I’ll occasionally through in a caffeine pouch if I want a quick boost to start my day. I don’t drink coffee, and I don’t drink a lot of soda, so I do enjoy the kick from these.

Snubie’s Opinion: Lewa is a relative newcomer to the market. I really like their can designs, they remind me a lot of the look that OK Soda had back in the 90’s. But, let’s hope these stay around longer than that product did. Lewa has interesting flavors, and I’ve enjoyed the kick from these using them.
Brand: Vika Rave
SnusExpress.com Description: I couldn’t find a description on SnusExpress for this one, so I pulled one from the Vika website. They say: “This invigorating blend contains neither tobacco nor nicotine, but instead offers you pure energy for an exciting night of dancing. Experience the best and taste the distinctive taste and stimulating power of Vika Rave”.
Snubie’s Opinion: I’ve had Vika Nicotine Pouches in the past, so if you like those, you’ll probably like Vika Rave. You get a similar feel, and a similar experience, but with the kick of caffeine instead of nicotine. Vika does a great job with their flavors, so you’ll have a good experience with these if you enjoy good, quality flavors.
These could be considered tobacco and nicotine free, and they also don’t have caffeine in them. I put this category as it’s own, but there’s really only one product in this category: Pavo. Pavo is made by Dholakia, in India. I’ve been a big fan of their nasal snuff and nicotine pouches, so I know they make a great quality product. These products have guarana, green tea, matcha, and ashwagandha, so when you use these you’ll experience a pretty nice effect.

Snubie’s Opinion: It’s been about 3 years since I’ve had these. I remember these launched in 2020, and came out during the COVID pandemic. That was a stressful time, so I used these from time to time and found a nice, stimulating effect with them. The flavors are great on these, as Dholakia is known for crafting some incredible flavors!
And lastly, nicotine pouches! These are, for many, the primary snus alternative. You get the nicotine effect from these that you get from snus, but they are completely tobacco free. There are also a lot of brands, flavors, and strengths with this category, so there is really something for everyone within the nicotine pouch category.

Snubie’s Opinion: While I am primarily a snus guy, I have been known to use a nicotine pouch from time to time. As far as the brands listed above go, I’m more partial to Ace, Klint, Loop, Lyft, Skruf, and Velo. I like more citrusy and tropical flavors, and these are easy to find in nicotine pouches. If you like mint, you’ll be in heaven with these products, because there are about a million different mint flavors in the nicotine pouch category. These products are pretty solid, and stand as a great alternative for folks wanting to try something different.
