Review: Volt Guava Nicotine Pouches

Review: Volt Guava Nicotine Pouches

Today, we have a nicotine pouch by Swedish Match on deck to check out! This is Volt Spicy Guava! As I write this, fall is closing in, but it still feels warm where I live. Summer is my favorite holiday, and one thing I enjoy is tropical flavored pouches. They not only make me think of the beach, and tropical environments, but they are also pretty tasty. I’m a big fan of Velo’s Tropic Breeze but I’ve been rather intrigued by this one because of the spicy flavor. I’m a big fan of spicy foods and chili peppers, so the prospect of a blending of spicy chili pepper and tropical flavors is one that has piqued my interest. So, let’s get into the review and we’ll get to know this product better!

The flavor description I found on SnusExpress.com says, “Volt Spicy Guava Strong Slim – An all-white snus with discreet, slim and tobacco free nicotine pouches that deliver strong nicotine kicks (9.5 mg/portion) together with a guava flavor that is topped by a hot touch of chili extract, which gives these nicopods a light pink hue. The high-quality filling used by its nicotine pouches consists of natural plant fiber. This filling eliminates any potential risk of them leaving stains while it also keeps their drip to a minimum, lengthening their satisfying release of both flavor and nicotine”.  Each can weighs 14.7 grams and has 21 pouches, for a weight of 0.7 g pouches. The nicotine content sits at 13.57mg/g, and with 0.7 gram pouches that’s 9.5mg/pouch. Like with snus, you’ll notice a compartment on top of the can. This is the catch lid, and is a great place to throw out used pouches if you aren’t near a trash bin!

Opening the can, you do notice a pinkish hue to the pouches, as mentioned in the description. To the touch, they’re pretty soft and seem to have a decent amount of moisture to them. In the aroma, I do notice some spice. It’s not super spicy, but it does tingle a bit in the nose. There’s some tropical notes that remind me of guava, perhaps a bit of mango. It’s not a super sweet one, which I like. Under the lip, it does have some burn to it and some heat. I like it, much like with chili peppers. The pouches are pretty soft and comfortable, and have a nice fit under the lip. The flavor is where this one really shines. It has a spicy taste of guava to it, so the name fits! The guava is present, tropical, and with subtle mango hints and perhaps a little citrus. The chili pepper is there, and yields some heat, but it’s not super powerful. While I like spicy stuff, I find that those who don’t like spicy stuff might still enjoy this one, as well! The nicotine kick is pretty solid, feeling a little above regular strength, and having some extra kick to it over that level. The flavor also lasts quite a while! I enjoyed this the past few days and each pouch seemed to yield up to 45 minutes of flavor, so that’s pretty solid in my book!

The Bottom Line

Final thoughts, bottom line, the wrap-up: I like it. It’s got a good taste. Now would I use it full time? Probably not. I prefer Velo’s tropical flavor a bit more. But, this one is still pretty good. I like the heat, I like the tropical taste, and it’s a great pouch for pairing with drinks. If you like spicy stuff like I do, you’ll really enjoy this one. It’s a different type of flavor, but I like that. I like more unique flavors and when companies think outside the box!
