Review: Odens Extreme Double Mint White Dry
A lot of people talk about Odens Extreme Double Mint White Dry. It’s a very popular snus, and probably GN Tobacco’s most popular product. But, it has a sibling that doesn’t get much love. Today, we’re checking out what I think is the superior mint product in the Oden’s series, Double Mint! This one comes in a lot of different formats - original portion, white portion, and white dry portion. But, in this review, we’re going to focus in on their Extreme White Dry version, the strongest product in their range!
The flavor description on this one says, “This extremely strong white dry portion snus from Oden’s treats you to an incredibly refreshing mint-menthol flavor”. The catch lid is located on top of the can, and is on a hinge. Each can weighs 16 grams, and I counted 20 portions, for 0.8g portions. The nicotine content is 22mg/g, but with 0.8g portions it’s actually only 17.6mg/portion. This lowers it from the “extreme” strength to the “extra strong” level.
Opening up the can, the mint aroma that comes through is quite nice. I notice a smooth, present aroma of peppermint with subtle tones of menthol. It’s not overly sweet, either, which I think is a nice bonus. The portions are the white dry format. They’re soft to the touch, moderately dry, but comfortable under the lip. Under the lip I get a nice cooling presence, which adds some freshness to the flavor profile. In the flavor profile, it’s a pretty well balanced taste of mint. The peppermint is balanced out by the menthol, with a subtle sweetness and an overall smooth taste. There’s a little tobacco taste in the background, as well. The nicotine strength is strong, don’t get me wrong. And it does feel every bit at the extra strong level. But, it’s not quite as strong as their 22mg/portion extreme original portions. It still kicks, but it’s not too much. The flavor hangs out quite a while. A benefit of white dry is that it yields a longer lasting flavor, which lasts up to about 1.5 hours, sometimes more!
The Bottom Line
If you like Oden’s Cold but have never tried this one, you need to check it out. In my opinion, this is the superior mint flavor in the Oden’s Snus range. I like this one a lot more, mainly for it’s well balanced mint flavor. I prefer their regular strength version, or their slim extreme version which is also less strong. But, this is a good one if you want something with a good kick to it. If you’ve never had Double Mint, give it a try and order Odens Extreme Double Mint White Dry!
