Review: Nick & Johnny Crushed Ice White Portion
There are a lot of mint snus products out there. I’d wager a guess that mint is the most popular flavor category of snus products. As there are a lot of them out there, I figured I should dive into reviewing some of them. Today, I wanted to talk about one that’s been around for quite a while and has a pretty solid following in the snus community: Nick and Johnny’s Crushed Ice. This one is a rather complex mint flavor, and isn’t like everything else on the market. So, without further ado let’s check out Crushed Ice!
Like other Swedish Match products, you’ll find the catch lid for this one right on top of the can. This is where you can discard of your used snus portions if you aren’t near a trash bin. The flavor description for this one says, “A white portion snus from Nick & Johnny that delivers extra strong kicks together with a refreshing mint-wintergreen flavor over a light and spicy tobacco blend!”. Each can weighs 22 grams, and has 22 portions, for 1 gram each. The nicotine content sits at 12mg/g, and with 1 gram portions that’s easy to calculate: 12mg per portion!
Opening the can, the aroma I pick up is pretty interesting. I smell spearmint first, with wintergreen behind it, and then a touch of peppermint. It’s quite the complex snus. The portions are pretty soft to the touch, and are pretty plump. I find they fit under the lip well and feel nice against the gum. Being a mint product, you’ll encounter a subtle cooling sensation when you put this one under your lip. The flavor is pretty unique! It’s not super sweet, and has an interesting spearmint/peppermint/wintergreen mix. I’d say it’s 50% spearmint, 30% peppermint, and 20% wintergreen. The nicotine kick is pretty nice, just a little over regular. It’s not too much, but not too little. The flavor also lasts quite awhile, up to about an hour on average.
The Bottom Line
If you’ve never had Crushed Ice, it’s one you have to try. I think the original portion is a little better, personally, but the white portion version is no slouch! While most mint flavors are pretty straightforward, this one certainly stands out compared to everything else on the market. It is, quite possibly, the most complex, unique mint flavor out there!
