Review: G.3 Slim Extra Strong (Original Portion)
Swedish Match considers G.3 to be the “third generation of snus”. When it first came out, it was said to have a number of components to make it the perfect snus. The nicotine level sits at extra strong, the portions are slim and soft, there is minimal drip, and they have a long lasting flavor. I mean, from where I sit as a product reviewer, what else could you ask for? So, let’s crack the can and get right into it!
First, a quick note, the top label on the can is kind of scuffed up, but that’s just the result of me peeling off the warning stickers from my order.
This snus has a black label on a grey can. As you can see, the catch lid pops off on top to reveal your used portion compartment. The flavor description on this one says, “This discreet and slim original portion snus from G.3 Snus delivers extra strong kicks together with General’s iconic snus flavor of spicy tobacco topped with a dash of bergamot”. The can label says it weighs in at 21.6 grams, and I count 24 portions for 0.9g each. The nicotine sits at 20mg/g, and with 0.9g portions you’re going to get 18mg of nicotine per portion.
Opening up the can I encounter the familiar smell of General Snus! There’s a present smell of bergamot, backed up by a spicy tobacco base. The portions are quite nice! They’re slim, moist, and soft. They have a great fit under the lip, and a quick release of flavor and nicotine. In the flavor profile, it’s the classic General Snus taste. I notice the bergamot up front, followed by an earthy tobacco base. There are notes of pepper, along with a presence of hay. In terms of nicotine strength, this one has quite a kick! If you like extra strong products, you’ll be quite satisfied with this one. It has a steady build, but firmly settles in right at the ES level. The flavor lasts quite a while; I’ve had these in for up to an hour, which is a long time for an original portion.
The Bottom Line
If you like General Snus and want to step it up to the next level, this is the one you’re looking for. From top to bottom, this snus is just pure quality and excellence. You get the classic General flavor, but in a slim portion with a great moisture amount and an extra strong kick. I’m more partial to G.3 Slim Strong myself, because I like lower strength products, but this one is still an incredible snus!
