Review: Artisan Dark Vanilla White Portion
Today, we’re talking about the latest release in the Artisan series: Artisan Dark Vanilla White Portion! The Artisan series launched a little over a year ago, and the original lineup had an original portion version of this one. But, as the creator of this line, I felt it was time to release a smooth, white portion version of this incredible flavor! Artisan is something I'm really proud of. It’s a line I worked with the snus community to create. You, the snusers, selected every aspect of what makes Artisan Snus what it is today! And almost a year later, the line continues to grow more and more. So, let’s get to know this new variant of the Artisan Snus family!
First, you’ll notice the catch lid is on top of the can now. We used to put it on the bottom but have changed that and moved it to the top of the can. Future Artisan releases will have this, too. The flavor description on this one says, “Artisan Dark Vanilla Original Portion utilizes premium Madagascar vanilla to yield a rich, dark taste of vanilla”. Each can weighs in at 16 grams and has 20 portions, for 0.8 grams each. The nicotine content sits at 17mg/g. That may sound like an extra strong, but due to the 0.8g portions it’s actually 13.6mg/portion. That puts it at the strong level. Now that we’ve done all that fun background stuff, let’s get to know this product better!
The aroma of this one is so, so good. I honestly like this one more than our original portion version. It’s more mild, smooth, and balanced. The dark vanilla comes through clearly, in a gentle way, and is complimented nicely by the dark tobacco base. You’ll notice the portions to be soft, but a little dryer than the average white portion. We reduced the moisture amount on these to yield a mild taste, but also a long lasting flavor. But, more on that later. The flavor profile is delicious. The rich, premium taste of dark Madagascar vanilla shines through quite well in the flavor. It’s a mild vanilla taste, and only lightly sweet. The dark tobacco base adds a lot to the vanilla, and gives it a really luxurious taste. In the nicotine strength I find it to deliver at the strong level, so it’s not too over the top. The flavor lasts quite a while! Due to the lowered moisture amount, I’ve been able to push this snus almost to the 2 hour mark!
The Bottom Line
All in all, this is a pretty tasty snus! And I know, I’m the guy who made it, so that may not count for much. But, Dark Vanilla is one of the best sellers in the Artisan line, which should tell you something! If you like the regular original portion version, definitely give this one a try. It’s a little different, and has a more mild, gentle balance. If you like vanilla, this is definitely a snus you’ll want to grab. Or, if you want something with a good tobacco base, you’ll want to check this one out.
