General Wintergreen White Portion
This is, without a doubt, one of the most popular wintergreen flavors on the market. Some love it, some aren’t the biggest fans of it. If you know me, you know wintergreen is hit and miss for me. I’m more of a Jakobsson’s Wintergreen guy myself, but this one certainly has it’s fans out there. It has the high quality of a Swedish Match product, but with the familiar taste of American wintergreen. If that’s your thing, then read on, because we’re about to get up close and personal with General Wintergreen!
This one has a grey can, and a catch lid that pops off on top to reveal the used portion compartment. The flavor description on this one says, “This white portion snus from General delivers medium strong kicks together with a minty wintergreen flavor over a light yet spicy tobacco blend!” Each can weighs in at 24 grams and has 24 portions for 1 gram each. You’ll notice they come in a little swirl, which is known as the “Star Formation”. Usually, I suggest rolling the portions are in your fingers to fluff them, but due to the wintergreen flavoring used in these, the pouches can burst open at the seams if you’re not careful, so be gentle! The nicotine strength on this one is 8mg/g, or 8mg/portion due to the 1 gram portions!
Opening up the can, a present wintergreen aroma jumps out at you. It’s a sweeter wintergreen aroma, but has that predominant wintergreen smell to it. The portions are soft to the touch, and moderately moist. The tobacco is firm in the pouch but, again, don’t fluff it too hard or you’ll pop the seals on the end of the portions. Under the lip, there’s a slight cooling presence with this one. The flavor is straight up, in your face, American wintergreen. If you’ve ever had a wintergreen “dip” product, that’s the flavor you get with this one. It is slightly sweet, but certainly not over the top sweet. The nicotine on this one is pretty satisfying, and delivers right at the regular strength level. The flavor hangs out a good, solid hour!
The Bottom Line
Wintergreen is hit and miss for me. Personally, I’m more of a fan of Jakobsson’s Wintergreen. But this one isn’t bad, it’s just not my favorite wintergreen product. It’s a challenge sometimes reviewing products I’m not the biggest fan of, but I try to be as objective as possible when I do! So, if you’re a wintergreen fan, grab a can of this one, you may love it!
