The Evolution of Nicotine-Free and Tobacco Free Snus: Trends and Innovations in 2024
Over the past several years, it has been interesting to see all the variations of snus that have come forth. Particularly products that are completely different in that they don’t contain tobacco or nicotine. I’ve been calling these products “snus alternatives”, because they’re similar to snus in what they look like and how they’re used, but they’re also completely different at the same time. Some of these products have nothing added to them. Some of them have caffeine for a stimulating effect. I was browsing around on SnusExpress.eu and found quite a lot of these products available and wanted to sit down and talk about them!
You may be asking, who would use these products? A lot of people use this who may be looking to quit snus and nicotine pouches. My wife uses the caffeine pouches and she don’t use nicotine. I use them as well and I also use nicotine. Really, anyone could use these. It just depends on you! You don’t have to be an ex-snuser to use them, you can be a current snuser! Or, yes, you can also be someone looking for a replacement to traditional snus. So, let’s check out some of these interesting products!
Lewa Caffeine Pouches
Lewa is a line of products made in Sweden. These are products that have caffeine instead of nicotine. While the effect of caffeine isn’t exactly the same as what a nicotine kick feels like, it’s still a stimulating effect which can serve as a fitting replacement for nicotine if you’re looking to switch. Or, if you’re like me and enjoy using nicotine, these are great first thing in the morning to give you a nice pick me up! Snubie’s Comments: The flavor of this one is really interesting, and unique. Blending apple and spruce? I mean, that’s wild. I’ve never even found that flavor in a snus or nicotine pouch product. It may sound strange to some, but it actually works really well. It’s very rustic and outdoorsy. I like that about this one.
Lewa Cola Lime Slim

Snubie’s Comments: There’s a cola and lime nicotine pouch I like, so it was pretty neat to see a product in the Lewa line that has a similar flavor. I like the taste of cola quite a lot, and blending lime into it adds a nice, tart background to the taste of cola. Cola is good on it’s own, but adding lime is a whole other level of tasty.
Lewa Liquorice Raspberries Slim

Snubie’s Comments: Licorice is something that has gradually, over the past several years, became a favorite snack of mine. I like violet with licorice, but another combination that works really well is raspberry and licorice. Raspberry really adds a nice backbone to the licorice flavor. And with this one it really works.

Snubie’s Comments: Every product line has to have at least one mint. I think it’s an unwritten rule, or something. So, with this one, you’ll get a taste of mint. I mean, what more could you ask for?
Scooper Energy Pouches
Scooper is one that I’ve seen becoming quite popular lately. These are also caffeine pouches, like with Lewa! This one blends peach and iced tea. Where I live, in the south, this is a delicacy. If you want to experience the true taste of summer, this is it!

Snubie’s Comments: I’m a big fan of iced tea, but I also like warm tea. One thing that goes really well with a nice black tea is a lemon. While I like the peach iced tea more, this is another enjoyable one in the Scooper family. The lemon and tea flavors are quite fitting together!

Snubie’s Comments: I’m a big fan of the taste of cola. One thing I’ve liked seeing in pouch products over the past several years is how there are more and more cola flavors coming out. This one is a pretty refreshing, almost slightly minty taste of cola. It’s not a bad mix, but it definitely is interesting, and different.

This one has a really nice grapefruit flavor to it that I like quite a bit. If you like citrus as much as I do, this is one you’ll want.
Velo Tobacco and Nicotine Free Pouches
These ones from Velo are different. These are completely free from tobacco and nicotine. Products like this are more for those looking to quit nicotine, or cut back on how much you use. Honestly, if you use these, they seem virtually identical to regular Velo, but don't have the nicotine to them. This is how they’re described: “The all-white filling used by these comfortable portions consists of natural plant fibers. A high-quality filling that both eliminates any potential risk of them leaving stains and that minimizes their drip, lengthening their minty release of flavor”.

A buddy of mine tried it in Sweden and told me it was good, though. This one is going to be like their regular Cool Storm nicotine pouches, but free from nicotine!
Velo Ice Cool Zero Slim

And there you have it! There are a lot of tobacco and nicotine free alternatives, that’s for sure. Whether you want one with no caffeine, or one with caffeine added to it, there are a lot of different products and flavors you can get. If you’re like me and use nicotine, you can use these. If you don’t use nicotine, you can also use these. They’re basically for everyone.
