Grov

Grov is characterized by the pure tobacco taste and rough blend. Snus was often categorized according to how the leaves were ground; from very fine to somewhat rough blends.

Johan Bäckström from the Swedish city Umeå started working at the tobacco factory W:m Hellgren & Co. in the year 1844. Five years later Bäcktröm became a part-owner. When Hellgren left the company in the year of 1851 Bäckström was left as the superior owner of the firm. One of the snus brands manufactured by W:m Hellgren & Co was Grov snuf; popular in the northern parts of Sweden. Today’s Grov has its roots in that recipe.

Grov has been a trademark since the year of 1872. Back then it was only available as loose snus. Grov Original Portion Snus was launched in 1983 and both the White and the Strong portions followed later on.
