Review: Siberia Red White Dry

Review: Siberia Red White Dry

Part of being a product reviewer means reviewing everything.  And yes, this includes products that I use and products that I don’t use.  Today, we’re going to be talking about Siberia Red White Dry.  This is one that I don’t personally use, but is incredibly popular in the world of snus.  Why don’t I use it?  Well, it’s a bit too strong for my taste.  But, for those who like to push the envelope and use high-octane snus, this is one of the most popular out there.  Since GN Tobacco launched the Siberia line back in 2015, it has quickly risen to the top of many snus fans “most beloved” lists.  Why is this snus so popular?  Well, let’s get right into the review and find out.

When I pop the top, I see the catch lid to be the regular type, so easy to slide off and insert your used portions if you aren’t near a trash bin.  The product description here on SnusExpress.com says “Experience extremely strong nicotine kicks together with a refreshing mint flavor with this popular white dry portion snus from Siberia Snus!”  The side of the can notes that this one weighs in at a 16 grams.  I count 20 portions in the can, weighing 0.8 grams each.  The total nicotine on this one is 43mg/g (4.3%).  However, with 0.8 gram portions the strength is actually 34.4mg/portion in what you’ll actually experience.  That isn’t light by any means, and still makes this one of the strongest snus products in the world.

Opening up the can, the aroma that comes through is quite bold.  In the words of Ron Burgundy, it stings the nostrils.  It is a sharp, present mint smell with a little hint of menthol in the mix.  The pouches come in the popular white dry format, meaning they have less moisture to them than a standard white portion.  They’re decently soft to the touch, and have a pretty comfortable mouthfeel.  Under the lip, I get a nice burn at first, which is pretty nice.  Then, the burn fades and gives way to a cool, fresh sensation.  In the flavor profile, it’s actually not bad.  Yes, this snus is too strong for me.  But, the flavor is solid.  It has a pretty nice mint/menthol type of flavor to it.  It’s present, but not too powerful.  And, I can actually taste some tobacco character with this one, which is surprising as most mints don’t have that.  It comes in at about the 25-30 minute mark, and is on the darker side.  Okay, the nicotine strength.  I mostly use regular strength myself, so this stuff hits me like a Mack truck.  It hits quick, and it hits HARD.  The flavor lasts quite a while; being a white dry you can usually keep these in for well over an hour.  Well, if it’s not too strong for you.

The Bottom Line

Okay, so, Siberia isn’t my cup of tea.  I mean, if I had to pick one, the Blue one isn’t too terribly strong, and the Black one has a nice tobacco taste but still much too strong for me.  But that’s okay!  In the world of snus, there are hundreds of products out there and not every one is for every snuser.  If you’re someone who likes the taste of mint and wants a really, really, really strong kick, it’s a no brainer:  this is the one you’re looking for.  I mean, there’s a reason it’s so popular.  It packs a fresh mint taste, and a whole lot of nicotine.  High octane snusers rejoice, this is the snus for you.
