Snus Suggestions for Dippers

Snus Suggestions for Dippers

As someone who has tried a lot of dipping and chewing tobacco products, I can tell you that Swedish Snus is a whole different world. While there are some common flavors, there are some that doesn’t exist in snus. However, there are a lot of great options for people looking to come over to snus, and in this article we’re going to tackle some common flavors, and I’ll give some suggestions based on what you enjoy using!

Tobacco Flavors

The taste of tobacco, who doesn’t love it? In the world of dip and snus, it’s a pretty common flavor experience. I’m going to tackle a few different ways to enjoy it, and give a few suggestions for each category!

Raw Tobacco Taste

There are a couple of products I’d recommend if you like raw, bold tobacco. Grov Original Portion has a great tobacco taste, with a hint of geranium. Artisan Signature Blend is another good one, it’s the only snus on the market today with no added flavor! Both are great options.

Natural Tobacco Taste

I highly recommend The Lab Series if you like the taste of natural, rustic, outdoorsy tobacco. The Lab 02 and The Lab 06 are both great, and have a nice tobacco taste with wood notes to them.

Loose Tobacco

While loose snus is different from long cut or fine cut dip, a lot of dippers enjoy it. If you like the taste of tobacco, I’d suggest Grov Loose. If you want a more smoky, woodsy tobacco taste, I’d suggest checking out Islay Whisky Snus Loose!

Chewing Tobacco

I’ve tried quite a few chewing tobaccos, and I’d like to suggest Roda Lacket. I've also heard other chew enthusiasts recommend this one because it has that tobacco/raisin/fruity type of flavor that you may notice with Beechnut, for example.

Straight Tobacco Flavor

Sadly, I can’t make any suggestions here. The straight flavor is unique to the world of American dip. So if you’re wondering what snus is similar to the straight flavor of dip, there isn’t one at this time.

Wintergreen Flavors

There are a handful of wintergreen flavors in the world of snus. Two I’d suggest are Jakobson’s and Oden’s. Jakobson’s Wintergreen is a sweeter wintergreen flavor. Oden’s Extreme Pure Wintergreen is one with a stronger nicotine kick, not as sweet, and a more bold tobacco taste. Either one are great options!

Mint Flavors

In the world of snus, there are a LOT of mint flavors on the market. After trying quite a few mint dip products over the years, there are two snus products that stand out to me as being approachable to those who are fans of dip and want to try snus. Nick and Johnny’s Crushed Ice has a bold mint taste with hints of wintergreen to it. Jakobsson’s Mint has a sweeter mint taste, but a bold experience. Both are great options if you like mint!

Berry Flavors

So I know not everyone is a berry flavor. But if you are, there’s one snus that has a great berry taste. And, it’s geared toward the American flavor profile! Meet Nick and Johnny Americana. This one has a spicy cherry taste with hints of wintergreen! It’s one of my personal favorites.

The Bottom Line

There are a lot of snus products out there, but as someone who has tried a lot of dip products, and talked to a lot of dippers and chewers over the years, these are ones that stand out to me. These are also ones I’ve heard ex-dippers and ex-chewers recommend, so I hope this list will serve as a great starting point to help you jump off into the world of snus. Welcome aboard!
