Review: Planet Lemon Venus
As a big space enthusiast, I was pretty excited to see this line of nicotine pouches called “Planet”. There’s quite a lot of flavors in the line, all named after individual planets. I’m not sure how they selected the flavors, because this one has a Lemon flavor and is named “Venus”. Venus is similar to Earth, and has a solid core to it. Venus is the second planet closest to the sun, and has 90 times the air pressure of Earth at it’s surface. Yes, it would literally crush you to stand on the surface of Venus. One day on Venus lasts 243 days on Earth, so it’s almost a full year on Venus for it to rotate once on it’s axis! Yes, these are probably boring facts, but I’m a space nerd. I mention them as well to say this - I have no idea what lemons have to do with Venus. But, that’s what they went with, so here we are! Let’s check out this product, shall we?
The flavor description for this one says, “Planet Lemon Venus Slim – A tobacco free and all-white snus from Planet and the manufacturer Nikotabako that refreshes and stimulates in a discreet way! Its slim nicotine pouches deliver a fresh lemon flavor together with strong nicotine kicks (10.5 mg/portion).Its comfortable nicopods use a filling that consists of natural plant fibers. A high-quality filling that eliminates any potential risk of them leaving stains while it also reduces their drip significantly. This low amount of drip lengthens in turn their satisfying release of both flavor and nicotine”. Each can weighs 13 grams and contains 20 portions, for 0.65 grams each. The nicotine content is 16mg/g, which breaks down to 10.4mg/portion.
I’m a big fan of citrus flavors. I use a lot of bergamot snus, but I often enjoy lemon or lime flavored nicotine pouches because they are great for pairing with a beer. So, today that’s what I’m doing while I sit down and talk about this pouch. Opening up the can, I notice the pouches to be slim, and pretty soft to the touch. There is a mild lemon aroma that comes through when you pop the lid, and also almost a slight hint of menthol. I’m not sure why it needs that, but that’s what it has. Under the lip, the pouches are moderately moist, but not super moist. They have a nice feel against the gum, and a slight cooling sensation when you put one under your upper lip. In the flavor, it’s a pretty mild one. I do taste the lemon, but it’s not super bold or in your face. It’s slightly tart, and has a very faint sweetness to it. The menthol character is pretty noticeable, but it’s not super medicinal, so I think it works okay in the flavor profile. The nicotine strength on this one is pretty enjoyable, and delivers at a steady pace slightly above the regular strength level. The flavor longevity is also pretty decent, hanging out for a good 40-45 minutes, on average.
The Bottom Line
If you like citrus, you’ll probably enjoy this one. It has a really nice flavor. It paired great with a beer, yes, but it’s also one you can enjoy anytime if you like the lemon flavor. Again, I’m still lost as to why this one has to have menthol to it, and I don’t get the connection to Venus, but hey, it is what it is. For what it is, I enjoyed it and thought it had a pretty nice flavor. If you’re a nicotine pouch enthusiast and want something to enjoy, this is the one you’re looking for!
