Review: Oden’s Cold (Original Portion)
In the world of snus, there is one flavor of mint that is arguably one of the most popular: Oden’s Cold, by GN Tobacco. And yes, their Extreme White Dry variant is the one that gets the most attention but did you know they make a regular strength version? It’s true. And it’s very rare to find a regular strength, original portion spearmint snus. In fact, there’s only one other one on the market, making this one quite unique. With the mint flavor profile, I’m more partial to the spearmint taste, so I’m excited to talk to you all about this one today!
This one has a catch lid that is on a little hinge, so it opens up and stays connected to the can. The flavor description for this one describes it like this: A medium strong original portion snus from Oden’s with the popular “Cold” flavor of refreshing spearmint! Opening up the can, I counted 20 portions in the 20 gram can, meaning 1 gram portions! The nicotine content is 9mg/g (slightly above regular strength), and with 1 gram portions that clocks in at 9mg/portion.
Opening up the can, I notice the portions are semi-moist, and feel soft and plump when I take one out. The aroma that comes through is a nice spearmint aroma. It’s slightly sweet, and has a little tobacco character in the background. When I put a portion in, I notice it to have a nice mouthfeel, a slight tingle, and then a little cooling sensation. The flavor is quite enjoyable. The spearmint taste is present, and has a light sweetness to it. There’s a little tobacco flavor in the mix, but not so much that it overtakes the mint flavor. The nicotine strength on this one is regular, which isn’t super common with Oden’s products, but it has a nice delivery to it! I’m more partial to regular strength, so I found this one to be pretty satisfying! The flavor has a longevity that stretches up to about 40-45 minutes, on average.
The Bottom Line
While Oden’s may be known for extra strong products, they do have quite a few that clock in at the regular strength level. These may not get as much discussion as their more strong variants, which is why I like reviewing them; I like informing people about products that may not get discussed enough in the snus community. If you’ve never had this one, it’s worth a try! It has a pretty nice taste to it, and is the type of mint snus you can use all day long!
