Review: Oden’s Cold Extreme Original Portion
In the world of mint products, it seems the Oden’s Cold line is one of the most popular. However, most tend to gravitate towards the White Dry category. Honestly, with mint products there aren’t many original portion mint flavors out there. So, today, we’re going to shine a light on an original portion mint product made by GN Tobacco. This one is an Extreme, and with the 1 gram portions will actually be stronger than a White Dry version. So, let’s check it out!
The catch lid on this one is on a hinge, so when you open it up to discard of your used portions, you’ll find it stays connected to the top lid of the snus can. The flavor description on this one says, “A stimulating original portion snus from Oden’s Snus with ultra-strong kicks and a cool spearmint flavor!” Opening up the can I counted 20 portions in the can, and with a 20g weight that means you’ll get full, plump, 1 gram portions with this one. The nicotine content sits at 22mg/g, and with the 1 gram portions that’s easy to calculate at 22mg per portion.
Opening up the can, the aroma I detect is a smooth, lightly sweet aroma of spearmint. You’ll notice the portions are nice and plump with a solid moisture amount to them. Under the lip they feel soft against the gum, and have a pretty quick release of flavor. Also, as is standard of most mint products, you’ll feel a gentle cooling experience in the lip and the mouth with this one. In the flavor profile, the spearmint is pretty present. It’s not overly sweet, but has a nice sweetness to it. I pick up a subtle tobacco base with this one, but it isn’t overpowering by any means. The nicotine on this one kicks, though. At 22mg/portion, you’re going to feel a solid, extra strong kick with each portion you use. The flavor longevity is no slouch either; I’ve been able to keep these portions in for almost up to an hour.
The Bottom Line
If you like mint products and want something with an extra strong kick, this is one you’ll want to check out. I personally am more partial to spearmint than peppermint, so I find the Cold flavor to be pretty enjoyable. I think it tastes better in original portion than in the white dry format, as well. If you’ve had their white dry before, you’ll want to give this one a go on your next order. I think it’s a better variant!
