Review: G.3 Slim White Extra Strong
The G.3 line launched in 2014, and was Swedish Match’s “next generation” of General Snus. It was launched to have several “improvements” over standard General Snus portions: more nicotine, a slimmer fit, longer lasting flavor, a softer pouch, and less drip. General Portion is great, don’t get me wrong, but this really makes a lot of improvements. It’s a little stronger than I personally use, but I still think it’s a solid snus, and a standout in the General family!
Opening the can, you’ll see the catch lid pops off on top, and gives you a compartment to discard of your used portions. The flavor description on this one says, “This G.3 snus comes in white slim-portions, and it delivers extra strong kicks together with the iconic General Snus flavor of spicy tobacco and bergamot”. Each can weighs in at 21.6 grams, and I count 24 portions in the can, which means 0.9g portions. The nicotine content sits at 18mg/g, and with 0.9g portions that means you get 16.2mg/portion.
When you open the can, the aroma that comes through is a present smell of bergamot backed up by a spicy tobacco character. The portions are slim, and pretty soft to the touch. The tobacco in the pouch is firm at first, but once you roll it around and fluff up the tobacco it gets more soft. Under the lip they’re pretty comfortable against the gum, as well. The flavor is top notch. It has the traditional general taste: present bergamot, an earthy tobacco base, spicy notes of pepper, and a subtle salt balance. It’s pretty tasty stuff. The nicotine strength on this one is stronger, and it does feel close to the extra strong level, but not quite the extra strong level. The flavor also lasts quite a while, well over an hour for each pouch!
The Bottom Line
If you like General, check out the G.3 line. It takes everything that is good about General Snus, and makes it even better. All the great taste from the usual General line, but in a slim portion with a longer lasting flavor. While this is a bit too strong for me to use full time, I can still appreciate that it’s a great snus. If you’ve never had G.3 before, throw some on your next order!
