Review: Odens Extreme Pure Wintergreen
When it comes to the wintergreen flavor, it’s always been a love/hate for me. Sometimes, I want it. Usually if I’m working outside or camping, mainly because it feels like an outdoorsy type of flavor. But sometimes I just really don’t want it. It’s an interesting situation! Lately, I’ve been into it. Mainly because it’s summer (as I write this) and I’m spending a lot of time outdoors. Today, we’re talking about one from GN Tobacco in Sweden. I haven’t had this one in quite a while so it’ll be fun to revisit Oden’s Extreme Pure Wintergreen!
Opening up the can, you’ll find the catch lid on top, which opens up with a little hinge. The flavor description for this one says, “Here we have an ultra-strong original portion snus from Oden’s Snus that deliver a refreshing and minty wintergreen flavor”. The can weighs in at 20 grams. Opening it up, I counted 20 portions, which means 1 gram portions! The nicotine content is an extreme 22mg/g, and with 1 gram portions that sits right at 22mg/portion!
The aroma on this one is, as the name says, a pure wintergreen aroma. It has a little sweetness to it, and a subtle minty tone. The pouches are nice and plump, with a great moisture amount. They’re comfortable in the lip, have a nice flavor release, and bring on a subtle cooling sensation when you put one in. In the flavor, this one is a standard wintergreen taste. You get the bold presence of wintergreen, along with a light tone of mint. The tobacco base is also present, which I like. You’ll notice an earthy, subtle tobacco tone in the background. In the nicotine department, this one is no slouch. Oden’s Pure Wintergreen has a firm, strong, hard kick at the extreme level! So, this one will feel around extra strong, but maybe just a little above. I find the flavor hangs out a good 40-45 minutes.
The Bottom Line
If you like wintergreen products, there aren’t a lot of them out there. So, you should really try them all to find a favorite. But, that being said, this is a good option for those who like stronger products. It feels right at the extreme level, and delivers a big, bold flavor of wintergreen. For me, I prefer Jakobsson’s more than this one, but honestly this one isn’t bad. A little too strong for me, but people who like that sort of thing will be very pleased with this one!
