Review: Odens Cold Extra Stark Original Portion
The Oden’s Cold series is quite popular, particularly the Extreme White Dry variant. But, there is another product in GN Tobacco’s Cold family that doesn’t get talked about much, Oden’s Cold Extra Stark! I wanted to do a review of it and shine some light on this one, because it doesn’t get as much love as it deserves. Another reason is that after Swedish Match discontinued Thunder Frosted, a lot of people were looking for a replacement. Well, here we have a spearmint snus, in the original portion format, with the extra stark level! If you’re looking for a home after Frosted went away, you may find it with this one. Let’s talk about it!
Opening up the can, I counted 20 plump, moist original portions. The can weighs 20 grams, so you get full 1 gram portions with this one. The catch lid is on top of the can, and is on a little hinge, so when you open it to deposit your used portions you won’t lose it! The flavor description for this one says, “An extra strong original portion snus with Oden’s popular and minty “cold” flavor”. The nicotine content sits at 18mg/g, and with 1 gram portions that’s 18mg/portion!
Opening the can, you’ll encounter the sweet aroma of spearmint. There’s a little tobacco in the background, as well. The portions are nice and plump, with a good moisture amount to them. Under the lip they’re comfortable, and yield a nice cooling sensation. The flavor on this one is pretty tasty. The spearmint is smooth, present, and has a nice sweetness to it. The tobacco flavor in the background is mild, but pleasant. It’s a pretty well rounded, refreshing, enjoyable flavor. In the strength, it’s strong, but not too much. To me, it feels to be between strong and extra strong. So, it does have some extra kick to it, but it’s not too crazy. The flavor lasts a good 45-50 minutes, on average.
The Bottom Line
This is a really tasty mint snus, and one that is quite underrated. It is probably the best variant in the Cold family. Also, those who loved Thunder Frosted back in the day would be quite a fan of this one. It’s very similar, and just as enjoyable as that one was. So, spearmint lovers, what are you waiting for?
