XQS Elderflower Nicotine Pouches Review
Today, we have a pouch on deck that I’m pretty excited to talk about. Going back to Gotlandssnus Green in 2009 when I first started using snus, I’ve been a big fan of the elderflower flavor. It’s not one you see very often in snus, or nicotine pouches. This one and Velo Elderflower are the only products I’ve encountered in recent memory that exhibit this particular flavor. Elderflower is a nice, sweet floral taste that is great for the spring, or just the warmer months in general. Well, realistically, I could use this flavor anytime of day. When I use nicotine pouches, as a snus guy, I usually reach for flavors we don’t have in the world of snus. The elderflower flavor is definitely one that intrigues me. So, I’m pretty stoked to talk to you all about this one today. So, open a can, grab a seat, throw in a pouch, and let’s get to know this one!
The product description for this one says, “XQS Elderflower Strong – A tobacco free and all-white snus that offers a summery flavor experience in a discreet way! Its slim sized nicotine pouches deliver strong nicotine kicks together with refreshing elderflower flavor that is topped by a light touch of zesty citrus. The natural plant fiber filling used by these comfortable nicopods eliminates any potential risk of them leaving stains while it also minimizes their drip. This low amount of drip enables them to provide a long-lasting release of both flavor and nicotine”. Each can weighs 10 grams and has 20 pouches for 0.5g each.
This pouch comes in two strengths, “Strong” and “4mg”. The “Strong” version, which I have today, is 16mg/g, which breaks down to 8mg/pouch. The “4mg” one is 8mg/g, which is 4mg per pouch. So, the “Strong” one is twice as strong as the “4mg” one.
When you open the can, the aroma that comes through is quite nice. It’s floral, and sweet. The elderflower comes through quite clearly and is one of those smells that is just pleasant, and enjoyable! The pouches are a little light in weight. At 0.5g each you’ll notice they feel pretty light when you put one in. They’re soft, and have a decent moisture amount, and feel comfortable under the lip. But, you’ll find them to feel just a little lighter and less filled in the lip when compared to others. In the flavor profile, this one is really good. The floral presence comes across pretty clearly, and is airy, and gentle. I will say this one is on the sweeter side. Not overly sweet, but it is one that you notice to be a little sweeter than your average pouch. In the nicotine department, this one feels a little lighter. It’s regular strength, but feels to be maybe 6-7mg in terms of what I pick up from it. It’s not too weak or anything, but feels to be just a hair below regular in what I feel. The flavor lasts a decent 35-40 minutes, on average. All in all, not bad.
The Bottom Line
If you like elderflower, or want a sweet floral taste, you’ll dig this one. My only complaint is the pouches. I like a more well filled pouch. If XQS could fill their pouches a bit better, at least to 0.7g, they would have a much better product. But, flavor and quality wise, these are pretty solid. I enjoy the as they are, just wish they had a better pouch. That being said, I enjoyed this one. It has a great taste. This is one I’d definitely say check out if you like sweeter tastes, or floral tastes, or just want something different!
