Review: Akka Vit Stark
Have you heard of the brand Akka? I haven’t heard a lot of discussion about this new brand from Swedish Match, so I thought it would be fun to sit down and talk about it. Akka is inspired by Northern Sweden, and bears a mountainous design on the label. It’s also a relatively cheap snus, sitting at $2.99 USD for a can, or $2.79 a can if you grab a stock/roll of it. So, what is Akka all about? Well, why don’t we find out? Let’s do a review!
The flavor description for this one says, “A white portion snus with powerful kicks and a flavor of spicy tobacco topped with nuances of citrus, herbs and rose”. The catch lid is located right on top, so you have a place to discard of your used portions if you aren’t near a trash bin. Each can weighs 18.5g and has 24 portions per can, sitting at 0.77g each. The nicotine strength is 21mg/g, however with the 0.77g portions that breaks down to 16.17mg/portion.
When I open the can, I encounter a present aroma of citrus, reminding me of bergamot. There’s a light herbal character, a hint of pepper, and a mild tobacco base. The portions are a little lighter in weight, semi-dry, and soft to the touch. Under the lip, I find them to be pretty comfortable. The flavor is pretty decent. It reminds me of a mix between General White Portion and Kaliber+ White Portion. It’s citrusy, but mild. The tobacco base is present, gentle, and earthy. I notice a slight herbal character, and a mild floral hint. It’s a pretty well balanced flavor, and is a good all day type of snus. The nicotine strength on this one hits around the strong level, maybe a little above. The flavor lasts a good amount of time as well, usually up to about an hour!
The Bottom Line
If you haven’t had Akka yet, it’s definitely worth a go. It has a pretty decent, traditional, all day type of snus flavor. It’s a cheaper one, but it doesn’t have a cheap taste by any means. It’s nice and tasty, and one I think you should check out if you haven’t had it. If you like traditional snus flavors, grab some Akka on your next order.
