Planet Nicotine Pouches: Energy Neptune Review
Over the past few weeks I’ve been reviewing the Planet nicotine pouches line, produced by Nikotabako. It’s a line with products that are named after planets, and contains an array of interesting flavors. I’m not sure where they draw their flavor inspiration from, or how they associate each flavor with each planet. I suspect it’s random, because today we have Planet Neptune, which has an “Energy” flavor. Of course, that meaning Energy Drinks.
The planet Neptune was discovered in 1846, and interestingly has only circled the sun once since it was discovered, having a 164 year orbital period. This planet is a "gas giant". The mean temperature of the atmosphere is about -326 degrees Fahrenheit. But, it is the farthest planet from the sun (since Pluto has been ejected). Neptune has 14 known moons, and has a diameter that is about 4 times the size of Earth. I know this isn’t relevant to this product, but I thought it would be fun to share.
Now, with all that said, let’s check out this product!
The flavor description on this one says, “Planet Energy Neptune Slim – A tobacco free and all-white snus from the manufacturer Nikotabako inspired by the world of energy drinks! Its slim and discreet nicotine pouches deliver strong nicotine kicks (10.5 mg/portion) together with a tasty energy drink flavor.The filling used consists of natural plant fibers. It ensures that these comfortable nicopods won’t stain and that they drip minimally, which in turn lengthens their release of both flavor and nicotine”. Each can weighs in at 13 grams and has 20 nicotine pouches, for 0.65g each. The nicotine content on this one sits just at 16mg/g, and with the 0.65g portions that breaks down to 10.4mg/pouch, which is just a little above the regular strength mark.
Opening the can, the aroma is pretty interesting. It does remind me of energy drink, but it also has a slight floral presence to it, and a subtle sweetness. It’s certainly a unique aroma. The pouches are a darker color, moderately soft, slightly dry (but not too dry), and pretty comfortable under the lip. I find them to have a soft feel against the gum, and a discrete feel in the lip. I get a slight tingle when I put one in, along with a gentle cooling presence. However, I don’t taste mint or menthol in the flavor profile. The taste is a relatively mild one, but not weak. It does remind me of energy drinks. It has that tart berry taste to it, but also just a little sweetness in the mix, too. That floral note I noticed in the aroma also comes through in a mild way in the flavor profile. The nicotine strength is satisfactory, and feels to hang out around the regular strength level. It has a pretty steady release of nicotine to it. The flavor lasts a decent amount; usually I can enjoy one of these for up to 35-40 minutes on average. So, that’s not too bad.
The Bottom Line
If you want to try out something with a unique flavor, this may be one you’re looking for. It’s certainly different, but in a good way. There are a lot of flavors in the world of nicotine pouches that tend to run together for me, but this is one that stands out. I think in the Planet series this is probably one of their better ones.
