Review: Al Capone Mint

Review: Al Capone Mint

I haven’t had these Al Capone products in a long, long time. I decided I would order some recently because I’ve been revisiting stuff from the past. Honestly, I really like these cans. They’re square, and have a neat fit in the pocket. I don’t use a lot of mini portions, but I’ll re-use these cans from time to time for regular snus. These are a little different from regular snus, however. These portions are very small, very light, and very dry. I think they’re more for people who like discrete sizes, and products without a lot of drip.

I usually prefer a more large portion, but some people really dig these smaller pouches. In my early days of snus, when I first started out, I used a lot of products like this. I found the size and discretion to be quite nice. Over the years, I grew to want something larger and more substantial in my lip, but it’s fun revisiting these because it reminds me a lot of what I used to enjoy back in the day.

So, let’s pop open a can of Al Capone and talk about this product!

The flavor description on this one says, “Al Capone Mint Mini Dry by Råå S AB is discreet, minty and satisfyingly strong! It has a mild tobacco character and it delivers a refreshing mint flavor together with strong nicotine kicks (8 mg/portion)”. Each can weighs 6 grams and contains 20 portions, weighing 0.3 grams each. The nciotine content sits at 26mg/g, which sounds like a lot. But with 0.3g portions that actually breaks down to 7.8mg per portion, or regular strength. Also, the catch lid is on the bottom of the can in a little compartment. I know it isn’t where you’d normally look for it, but there it is!

Opening up the can, you’ll notice the pouch size first of all. Picking one up, you’ll find it to be quite dry. There is literally no moisture to this thing. So, we’ll pop it in the lip and see how it goes. In the aroma, it’s a very, very, very mild aroma of mint. It seems closer to peppermint, but perhaps a little menthol is in there, too. It’s also not super sweet. Under the lip, the pouch softens up over time as it gets more moist. It has a little cooling presence to it, as well. The flavor on this one is, like the aroma, very mild. I notice some mint in there, but it doesn’t grow to have too much flavor. It’s a very light, faint taste of mint. Mostly peppermint, a little menthol, and a slight sweetness. The nicotine strength on this one is around the regular strength level. The flavor seems to bop around for about 30 minutes, on average. Not as long as other products, but this is a milder one in general.

The Bottom Line

So, who is this product for? Well, I think people who like small pouches. Also, people who don’t like a lot of drip. And, people who like lighter flavors. If you’re like me and want a big, juicy portion with a lot of flavor to it, you won’t like this one. You shouldn’t buy it. But if you want a small pouch with a light taste, go for it. I think you’ll be happy with this one. While it’s not for me at the end of the day, that’s okay! Not every product is for me. I can’t like everything. But that doesn’t mean you won’t. So, give it a try on your next order and see what YOU think!
